Sierra Butler is the founder of Butler Elder Law, P.A., a member of Ferrari, Butler & Moneymaker, PLLC.  Sierra embraces the use of technology to provide efficient and cost-effective services to her clients. She strives to ensure that her client-families are in the best position possible to provide quality care for their aging or disabled loved ones while maintaining their financial security.

In 2021, 2022 and 2023, Sierra was selected by Super Lawyers as a top rated Elder Law Attorney. No more than 5% of all lawyers in Florida are selected as Super Lawyers. From 2020- 2024, Sierra has been selected by SRQ Magazine as an Elite Top Attorney in the field of Elder Law. In 2021, Sierra was chosen by Florida Trend Legal Elite as an “Up & Comer,” as someone who has exhibited leadership both in the law and in her community.

Sierra is extremely active in the legal community where she has served in leadership positions with the Manatee American Inn of Court and the Manatee County Bar Association. She is also a member of  the Manatee Chapter of the Florida Association of Women Lawyers, the Elder Law  Section of the Florida Bar, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys. 

Sierra is licensed to practice law in both Florida and Massachusetts.  She is a 2005 cum laude graduate of Vermont Law School, and has practiced law in a variety of settings, including a national firm, small boutique firms, and the Justices of the Massachusetts Probate & Family Courts. In her spare time, she likes playing volleyball and spending time with her husband, their son, and their two dogs, as well as visiting New Orleans, Louisiana.


Melissa Casanueva is associate attorney at Butler Elder Law, P.A.. Raised in Riverview, Florida, Mrs. Casanueva earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida in 2006. She earned her J.D. cume laude and a Certificate of Concentration in Elder Law from Stetson University College of Law in 2013.

Melissa is active in the legal community, having served as President of the Young Lawyers Division of the Manatee County Bar Association. She also serves as a court appointed attorney to alleged incapacitated persons in Manatee and Sarasota counties.

Melissa enjoys spending time at Disney with her husband and two children, and taking trips to the wine vineyards in California.
